Take self-driving cars using digital RMB

Updated: 2022-02-11

"On the self-driving taxi, I experienced digital renminbi payment in advance, and the payment process is as smooth as the driving process," said a resident in the Beijing Economic and Technological Development Area (BDA).

Open the Radish Run APP, click to participate in the digital RMB experience activity, then you can receive red envelopes, select the itinerary and digital RMB payment.

In the BDA, new application scenarios for digital RMB have been added to promote its pilot application during the Beijing Winter Olympics.

Since the BDA received the first commercial order for autonomous driving travel services on Nov 25 last year, it ushered in the start of the use of digital RMB nationwide.

According to reports, digital RMB is a digital form of legal tender issued by the People's Bank of China, equivalent to banknotes and coins, and is operated by designated operating agencies and is for public use.

In terms of functions, the digital RMB is the foundation of the development of the digital economy and a supplement to the current electronic payment system. It has a natural value scale and the function of accounting units, which is unmatched by other forms of currency.

Not only the construction of "digital transportation", since last year, the BDA’s Bureau of Commerce and Finance has continued to explore and build digital RNB application scenarios.

Last year, the Bureau of Commerce and Finance also cooperated with the BDA Branch of the Bank of China to build a "digital park" in Jiajie Technology Park, Jiajie BOX Enterprise Exchange, and Jiajie BDA Enterprise Exchange to promote the implementation of digital RMB in industrial parks.

The digital RMB payment function covers scenarios such as property management fees, parking fees, and clothing store consumption.
